The Altiero Spinelli Prize was awarded to projects across Europe that help European citizens' understanding of the EU. The prize was, in particular, aimed at engaging young people and informing them on the EU. The prize required a series of videos to be created: this included a video interviewing winners of the prize from previous years, a compilation video announcing all winners of the most recent award, and a series of 16 videos which put a spotlight on each winner. The videos went out on social media and were showcased at the virtual award ceremony.​
